PCD In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: American girl group Pussycat Dolls has returned to Malaysia, and is set to raise temperatures at Genting Highlands when it opens the MTV Asia Awards 2008 tomorrow.

It has been two years since the girls performed in Kuala Lumpur, and besides their new music the members also feature new looks.

Jessica Sutta, who used to be a brunette, has reddish coloured locks, while Kimberly Wyatt is now sporting short hair. They are also now a quintet following the departure of Carmit Bachar earlier this year.

“When the Pussycat Dolls explosion took off, we put three years of our lives into making sure we planted the seeds into the soil,” said lead Pussycat Nicole Scherzinger.

“(Then), we were able to take some time off, spend a bit of time with the family, and do a bit of self-searching. The time off was so healthy for us because now it’s all of us again and we’re coming back with a fire stronger than before.”

The group, made up of Scherzinger, Melody Thornton, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Kimberly Wyatt, shot to fame in 2005 with their debut single Don’t Cha. They girls previewed a number of songs from their upcoming Doll Domination to the media yesterday.

The album features their latest single When I Grow Up, which is making waves on music charts worldwide.

Pussycat Dolls will join artistes scheduled to perform at the MTV Asia Awards, which will be held i

The Pussycat Dolls Talk Britney's Deleted Music Video Cameo

Pussycats, where have you been?

Spotted at BBC News

"Be careful what you wish for 'cause you just might get it."

This cautionary message comes courtesy of the Pussycat Dolls, whose comeback single - When I Grow Up - hints at the darker side of global fame.

"The song is meant to be playful," says lead singer Nicole Scherzinger. "But on the twist side of that, it's a little warning.

Pussycat Dolls
The band's second album is called Doll Domination
"I think people see us and think: 'Wow, I want to do that. I want to be famous, I want to see the world, I want nice cars, I want groupies.'

"But it's not going to be an easy road getting there and it's not as glamorous as it always seems."

Scherzinger should know. After a decade spent toiling at pop's coalface in a succession of failed bands and reality shows, she finally struck gold with the Pussycat Dolls in 2005.

Their first hit, the sultry Cee-Lo Green-penned Don'tcha, went straight to number one on both sides of the Atlantic. Its cheeky hook - "don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?" - instantly entered the pop lexicon.

Four more top 10 hits followed, along with a multi-platinum album, sponsorship deals, a TV show and tours with Rihanna, Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera.

'Gruelling'

Pussycat Dolls
Sixth doll Carmit Bachar (far right) quit the band earlier this year
So you could be forgiven for thinking that any complaints about the pressures of fame were the usual "poor little me" celebrity whining. But Scherzinger insists "we all got our own traumas".

Certainly, she has had a rough couple of months. Her solo album was put on hold after it failed to capture radio's attention and, in March, fellow Doll Carmit Bachar quit the group.

"You don't see all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes," says Scherzinger. "It's a lot harder than people imagine."

The solo record was shelved, she says, because "I didn't want to miss out on the PCD moment".

And she understands why others might not want to endure the "gruelling schedule" of being a Pussycat Doll.

"We train our minds, our bodies, like we're training for the Olympics," she says.

"Not only do we rehearse the dancing every day, but I have a personal trainer and I make time to train every day.

"You sacrifice your own personal time. You don't get to be with loved ones, you don't have time for yourself.

"But it's worth it. When the train's coming, you gotta jump on it - because it's not always going to be around."

'Boot camp'

Pussycat Dolls
Doing the first PCD album, we didn't know what our sound was. Now we have to beat those songs
Nicole Scherzinger
In person, Scherzinger's soft Kentucky drawl masks the sheer ambition of this statement, but there is no doubt that she is working hard to capitalise on her moment in the spotlight.

A stint in the studio with producer du jour Timbaland resulted in six songs in as many days.

"I felt like I was in boot camp," she laughs.

The singer also took on the responsibility for producing her bandmates' vocals.

A video of recording sessions on the group's official website shows her instructing 26-year-old Ashley Roberts to "get on it better, accent it better".

Didn't this cause friction within the quintet?

"Well, vocals are kind of my thing," Scherzinger says. "And I would never boss anyone around.

"I produce my own vocals, so I know how to speak to other singers. I don't have very many skills in life - but that's one of them!"

Turner tribute

The album, Doll Domination, is due out in September. It ditches the cover versions and show tunes which betrayed the band's cabaret beginnings on their debut.

Scherzinger promises a few surprises as well.

Nicole Scherzinger
Scherzinger says she is "still working" on her solo album
"We've got one song that's called I Hate This Part where my inspiration was Sting and Journey," she reveals.

"And we did another song with Timbaland called In Person which kind of sounds like old Tina Turner."

The songs have been specifically designed to work on stage in anticipation of next year's world tour.

"I think that's what's so special about the Dolls and what separates us from other pop groups ," says the star.

"We have a history - a very theatrical background."

Scherzinger's ambitions don't end there. She insists she "will go back" to her first love, musical theatre - she has appeared in Chicago and Showboat, and studied theatre at university.

And what about a Pussycat Dolls musical?

"Most definitely. I think more so that than anything, because it reaches people all over the world.

"I grew up watching All That Jazz and films like that - and that's the time I come from.

"It's just finding the right one... or writing my own."

That album title is beginning to seem less like a clever piece of alliteration and more like a mission statement.

When I Grow Up is released in the UK on 8 September. Doll Domination follows a week later.

The Pussycat Dolls open up about Britney's cameo

AccessHollywood.com: Britney Spears’ reported cameo may not have made it into the Pussycat Dolls’ video for “When I Grow Up,” but in an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, the Dolls say Brit wasn’t to blame.

“It’s not a secret,” the pop quintet’s Melody Thornton told Access. “There are a lot of things that you do that don’t necessarily make the video and that didn’t, for whatever reason.”

“She came out, she did a cameo,” added lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, though Melody noted that Britney didn’t work directly with the Pussycat Dolls. According to VH1, in Britney’s deleted scene, she drove a car, waved at the Dolls in traffic and looked “hot and blonde.”

There are definitely no hard feelings from the five Dolls, who hope to work with the singer again.

“We love her, we’re all huge fans of Britney, always have been,” Scherzinger said. “We totally support her. Not everything makes the final cut but we want to do something with her in the future.”

“I was personally bummed because I really like Britney,” added Jessica Sutta, before declaring, “So Britney, if you’re watching, we want you!”

First off

I want to tell you how much I Love, Appreciate and Adore

you all! All of your emails, fan books, and videos inspire me every

day to do the best job I possibly can as an artist and as a person!

I'm so excited to tell you the PCD train is moving fast! Soon I'll

get to reconnect with you again through the new music and our upcoming

travels!!! I can't wait! It is so important to me that you all

understand how much I truly care for you all. Sometimes I feel a

little guilty because I want to reach out more, but my internet skills

aren't quite on par with my singing and dancing ;) LOL

So here is a brief recap of what I have been up to the last couple

weeks. I'll start with my Birthday. I went to Vegas with my best

friends, my cousin and the Dolls to celebrate with fans and friends at

LAX in the Luxor. Wow, it was one blessing after another! So many

people came out to help me celebrate my Birthday and I felt so loved.

After an amazing Birthday dinner, the Dolls joined me on stage where

we performed some of our past and current hits. The energy was CRAZY.

Then I was presented with the most beautiful cake ever and felt like

such a princess!!! The next day I got to spend some quality time with

my closest friends at the Ceasars Palace pool. They even played some

PCD songs and it filled my heart with such joy to see everyone dancing

around in the water! It was soooooo cool!

When I got home from Vegas it was right back to work! I have been in

the studio and rehearsals nonstop trying to make this new album my

best PCD work yet! I am also making plans to connect with all my

amazing fans more often. I hope you truly feel my heart and deep

gratitude... through my music, my performances and this BLOG you're

reading right now! Know that I always take your spirit with me every

day I go to work. Even though my busy schedule doesn't allow me the

time to get on the computer that often, you are always with me.

So...Let's do this!!!!! The next round!!!!!! Doll Domination!!!!!!

Thank you for always inspiring me to give EVERYTHING I'VE GOT in my

heart, my spirit, soul and music.

Much aloha and keep your love and light bright!

Nicole

Beyonce has been chosen to sing “Part Of Your World” from Disney’s classic movie The Little Mermaid for their compilation CD which will be released this September. Also singing other Disney hits will include Rihanna and Chris Brown (Aladdin) “A Whole New World”, Pussycat Dolls (Hercules) “I Won’t Say (I’m In Love)”, and Alicia Keys (Mulan) “Reflection” plus many more! I remember Christina Aguilera singing “Reflection” which was suppose to be her debut single, but it didn’t do too well which led to her hit “Genie In A Bottle”. Thoughts?

The Pussycat Dolls To Open Show At The 2008 MTV Asia Awards

By News Desk

The Pussycat Dolls will perform their latest hit single "When I Grow Up" for the first time in Asia at the 2008 MTV Awards Awards. Response to the first single, from their upcoming album Doll Domination, has been overwhelming in the U.S. since it was released. With the 2008 MTV Asia Awards, Asian audiences will experience for themselves a spectacular concert performance in typical Pussycat Dolls fashion, complete with visually extraordinary elements like fireworks displays, flashy costumes and amazing dance moves by the girls.

The Pussycat Dolls first exploded on the pop music scene in 2005 with their worldwide #1 hit "Don't Cha." Their debut album, PCD, has sold over 7 million copies internationally on the strength of hit singles like "Buttons," "Stickwitu" and "Wait A Minute." Besides touring the globe and performing with The Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera, their infectious dance hits and enthralling performances have allowed them to bag a slew of prestigious awards.

"MTV is extremely excited to have The Pussycat Dolls with us once again for the second time at the MTV Asia Awards. With the girls in the house, be prepared for an electrifying experience at the hottest music event in the region. We at MTV are constantly bringing our audience the latest hits and sizzling sensations in the music industry. Expect nothing but the best from our headlining event of the year-the 2008 MTV Asia Awards," said Silvia Goh, Executive Producer of MTV Asia Awards / Vice President, Multiplatform Content, MTV Networks Asia.

Also performing... Leona Lewis, OneRepublic, Panic At The Disco,
Super Junior, The Click Five and The Script.

Britney Houston Shoots Pussycat Dolls Parody - News Story | Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV News

Britney Houston Recruits 'Britney Cat Dolls' For Pussycat Dolls Parody

YouTube superstar also in the midst of recording a pop album.

Watch your back, PCD. There's a new girlicious group on the scene, and they've got your number. Meet the Britney Cat Dolls, a gaggle of New York drag performers led by YouTube superstar Britney Houston, who caused tons of LOLs last summer with her inspired take on Lil Mama's "Lip Gloss" video.

In actuality, BCD is a onetime joke created by Houston for her latest sure-to-be-blogged-about opus, a parody of the (real) Dolls' "When I Grow Up." On the guerrilla-style set of the "remaking" of the video, as Houston calls it, the quintuple threat (actor/ singer/ dancer/ choreographer/ all-around fierce person) is hard at work making sure every sight gag lands, every dance move is in sync and every location is used to its maximum potential.

While filming the second verse, Britney and the girls sit on a stone slab while busy bees in the Meatpacking District cross in front of them, paying no mind to the camera guy, the five divas popping their chests or the dude using a bubble machine. Instead of screaming at the rude New Yorkers ruining take after take, Britney simply turns them into oblivious co-stars by raising a prop microphone up to them as they carelessly shuffle by.

"A lot of it is really improv," Britney confesses. "I'm in the moment and it's me just doing something, and [then] it becomes signature. And you're like, 'Oh my God, who thought of that?' and I'm like, 'I didn't even think of it. It just happened!' "

That's not to say Britney's videos aren't meticulously thought out. From the costumes (each Doll designed her own) to the extensive shot list to the frighteningly dead-on choreography, Houston's parodies are pitch-perfect love letters to the artists she admires.

Who do you think 'grew up' better? Tell us whose video you prefer.

Comment below, or upload your response video at fnmtv.com. We'll put the best comments and videos on TV!

"When I do these things, I [usually] try to give a twist to the choreography. But [the Pussycat Dolls have] a signature move, and I just had to put it in there intact."

(Speaking of signature moves, look for Britney Houston in the pilot for the "MTV Newsical" right here!)

For the record, the official must-have PCD dance move apparently involves a windmill arm and a booty pop.

Acting as the "other girls" to Britney's "Nicole Scherzinger" are four fabulous staples in the Manhattan drag scene. "They're not allowed to sing," Houston jokes. "It's in their contract. [Actually,] they're mouthing as much as the other girls do." Zing!

Sitting pretty behind the camera is director Gregory Clifton. "I'm enjoying the chaos. It's really fun watching other people watch them." Dozens of tourists, shop owners and (eek!) NYPD officers stop by the set throughout the day. Comments range from full-fledged support ("You're beautiful," shouts one hipster girl) to ignorant diatribes to precious innocence. (When an 8-year-old boy tells one Doll, Sahara, that she's "dressed like Superman," the performer snaps back, "Super who?") And the Britney Cat Dolls take it all in stride.

"I want us to represent all the girls out there who are really turning it and who are hot and sexy and fabulous, which is us!" Britney emphatically notes. "We mean business, and we're overlooked. And we want our own spotlight!"

Laverne, of Lucky Cheng's fame, piggybacks the serious sentiment. "And note that we are an all-black Britney Cat Doll group. It's very exciting! Black girls representing!"

As far as future plans, Britney hopes she won't be pigeonholed as a gender-bending Weird Al. "I want [audiences] to know that I'm multitalented, that I actually do other things."

But she also acknowledges that she might not be everyone's (read: Middle America's) cup of tea.

"The performance art that I do is something that's so underground. On the international scale, we've only had, really, RuPaul. [She] made huge, huge, huge waves in media and being a pop icon. I feel like I'm able to maybe get somewhere with what I'm doing, and get to that."

So what's the next step for Britney Houston world domination? You guessed it. A pop album!

"We're in the studio, working with producers and writing. And hopefully by [later] this summer I will definitely have something big, and I'm really excited about putting it out."

While Britney's fate as a legitimate pop-music artist is yet to be determined, one thing's for sure: The music video will be awesome.

Be With You f/Jessica Sutta

A reader named Mary sent me this song. She had a demo disc and placed the song on Youtube, where it was ripped. This is the HQ file. It was to be included on "In Between", Paul van Dyk's LP released last summer which featured the #1 Dance hit "White Lies", which featured, as we all know, Jessica Sutta, the sassy (former) pinup Doll of PCD. You can access the song below.
